If you are a transfer student with 24+ credits, or a non-traditional student- older, discharged from the military, or juggling multiple roles like studies, work and parenting- you have choices. You can either attend a one-day TNT session or take part in TNT Express, the two-hour abbreviated alternative.
These are full-day programs designed especially for TNT students. By attending TNT, you will learn a lot about UNM, take care of advisement, register for classes, and take care of business- all in one day. Participants in these sessions benefit from full-service assistance by the orientation staff and the academic advisors throughout campus. We also offer a guest and family member component at these programs.
These are shorter two hour sessions. They are designed for students who prefer to take care of advisement, registration and other tasks on their own, rather than spend an entire day at TNT. If this option sounds appealing to you, keep in mind that it is meant for students who want to do a lot of important university business on their own. In many cases, academic advisors are not available on the same day as these programs.
Although you have choices about which type of program to attend, it is mandatory for all transfer students to attend a program. You won’t be able to register for classes until you satisfy this requirement. Click here for information about signing up for the TNT Program.
The New Student Orientation office understands that committing to an on-campus orientation may be difficult if you have a lot of responsibilities. Please contact us at (505) 277-3361 if you cannot attend a program because you can’t get off work, don’t have a baby-sitter, or have some other extenuating circumstance. UNM staff members who are starting academic degree programs should also contact us to discuss other options.
