First Year Events

Class Crawl

Class Crawl is a first year event aimed at helping students identify their classroom locations prior to the first day of school. Our wonderful UNM student leaders guide small groups of students around campus. Meet the many UNM staff members ready to help all our new Lobos. The best part? There will be plenty of FREE snacks! Get a close look at Class Crawl by viewing our video. Can it get better? Weather permitting, there will be a free movie screening on Johnson Field!

This event will happen in August before the Fall Semester.

Freshmen Convocation

Freshmen Convocation is a symbolic and traditional event marking the beginning of the academic year and most importantly, welcoming incoming students to the institution. The ceremony, usually a combination of the serious and the light-hearted, recognizes student achievement and introduces them to the University’s culture, to its history and traditions, to its administrators, faculty and staff.

This event will happen in August before the Fall Semester.

Freshmen Week!

Freshman Week is a time to celebrate the beginning of the freshman class’s college career. The Dean of Students Office along with the Student Activities Center and ASUNM’s Emerging Lobo Leaders hosts various events for freshmen to enjoy. This week includes free music, the annual Celebration of Student Writing, Mocktails and Music, the student involvement carnival, the Class Banner Hanging Ceremony, and more! Like the UNM Class of 2019 Facebook Page, our New Student Orientation Facebook Page, and follow our NSO Twitter Page for event updates and freebies all week!
